At Quadra Dental Centre in Victoria, our dentists perform extractions and wisdom teeth removal when a tooth is damaged beyond repair, or compromising your oral health.

What is a tooth extraction?
A tooth extraction is the removal of a tooth from the dental alveolus in the alveolar bone. Although permanent teeth are meant to last a lifetime, there are a number of reasons why tooth extraction may be needed.
Some common reasons why an extraction may be required include excessive damage to a tooth due to decay or injury, advanced periodontal disease, as preparation for other dental treatments, or problematic wisdom teeth.
The Extraction Procedure
Having a tooth pulled is far less painful now than ever before, thanks to advanced anesthetics and sedatives. Often, a patient who has an extraction experiences little or no discomfort, and only some minor bleeding. Prior to a tooth being pulled, the area surrounding the tooth is numbed with a topical/and or injectable anesthetic.
Wisdom Teeth Removal
Wisdom teeth are the third and final set of molars that erupt in the back corners of the upper and lower normal adult mouth. Unfortunately, many people experience problems from wisdom teeth. Reasons for extracting wisdom teeth include teeth that erupt too close to existing permanent teeth, causing crowding, improper bites, and other problems.
Oral Surgery
Dr. Sturym also offers basic oral surgery procedures, when required for restorative or cosmetic treatments.
